Introduction de la NPPV

La Norme sur la protection des personnes vulnérables (NPPV) a été conçue en 2016 en réponse à l’arrêt Carter de la Cour suprême du Canada et pour aider le gouvernement du Canada durant le processus de rédaction de la première loi sur l’aide médicale à mourir, le projet de loi C-14.

La NPPV est reconnue comme étant la première norme internationale de cette nature. La Norme fournit des directives claires et complètes aux législateurs en identifiant les mesures de protection nécessaires pour protéger les personnes vulnérables dans un environnement réglementaire qui permet l’aide médicale à mourir.

La Norme a été conçue par un groupe de conseillers experts en médecine, en éthique, en droit et en politiques publiques, ainsi que spécialistes dans les besoins des personnes vulnérables.

Aujourd’hui, ces conseillers continuent de promouvoir et de défendre la Norme et ils participent activement aux études en cours ainsi qu’aux litiges liés à l’aide médicale à mourir au Canada.

Conseillers de la norme sur les personnes vulnérables

Les personnes suivantes ont offert leur point de vue et leur précieuse expertise à ce projet par une participation active à la rédaction et à la révision ou par un appui réfléchi de la norme et du cadre de travail de ses mesures de protection.

Même si certaines conseillers, organisations, et personnes ont des objections éthiques et morales à l’euthanasie et au suicide assisté, elles appuient cette norme pour aider à limiter les préjudices et les risques que ces pratiques représentent, particulièrement pour les personnes vulnérables.
